Morocco highlights

Marrakech

The medina of Marrakech is one of the most atmospheric in the world — a labyrinth of souks, riads and historic monuments centred on the great square of Djemaa el-Fna. Richard can arrange stays in traditional riads within the medina or in the newer Gueliz district, with time to explore at your own pace.

Fez

Fez el-Bali, the old walled city, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the best-preserved medieval cities in the world. The tanneries, madrasas and narrow alleyways reward unhurried exploration. Combine Fez with a night or two in the nearby Middle Atlas mountains for a change of pace.

The Atlas Mountains

The High Atlas offers a striking contrast to Morocco's imperial cities — Berber villages, terraced valleys and the chance to walk or trek at altitude. Toubkal, North Africa's highest peak, is accessible from Marrakech. Richard can arrange guided walks, mule treks and mountain lodge stays to suit your fitness and interests.

The Sahara & Atlantic Coast

A night in the Sahara — arriving by camel at sunset and sleeping under the stars — is one of Morocco's most memorable experiences. The Atlantic coast, from Essaouira's windswept ramparts to the surf beaches of Agadir, offers a quieter counterpoint to the imperial cities and a natural end to a longer journey.
