Thailand highlights

Bangkok

Bangkok is one of Southeast Asia's great cities — a place of extraordinary energy, where ornate temples and royal palaces sit alongside some of the world's best street food and a thriving contemporary arts scene. The Grand Palace, Wat Pho and the riverside districts of Thonburi reward time spent on foot and by boat.

Chiang Mai & Northern Thailand

Chiang Mai sits in a valley in the northern highlands, surrounded by forested mountains and home to over three hundred temples. The old city, the night markets and the villages of the surrounding hills make it one of Thailand's most rewarding destinations for those who want to travel more slowly and spend time in a place rather than passing through it.

The Andaman Coast

The Andaman coast — Krabi, Koh Lanta, Koh Phi Phi and the Trang islands — is defined by dramatic limestone karst scenery, clear water and a quieter pace than the more developed resorts further north. Railay Beach, accessible only by boat, is one of the most striking stretches of coastline in Southeast Asia.

The Gulf of Thailand

Koh Samui, Koh Phangan and Koh Tao sit in the Gulf of Thailand and offer a range of stays from well-established resort hotels to smaller properties on quieter parts of the coast. The gulf has a different seasonal pattern from the Andaman side, which makes it a useful option for certain travel dates.
